hello my name is Kim Smith and I'm with the McNairy County uh University of Tennessee extension office and I am here with uh the bethl Springs Elementary School a of their fifth writers and they are going to be uh putting together a tasty fruit salad recipe um we need to incorporate at least 5 fruits and vegetables into our diets every day and this delicious recipe will help you get started on your fruits um we like to uh tell ourselves to eat a rainbow of colors each day to where we can get all the all the vitamins and nutrients that we need from each 1 of the colors of fruits so what I'm going to do is I'm going to let these children start by uh cutting up their fruits that we are going to incorporate into our fruit salad so you guys can get started hi this works out is something that's very easy for any of us to like at home um and what we like to say is everybody can kind of make it their own if there's some other fruits that they want to put in the salad or some that they want to take away from this that's a that's fine to do but just be sure and think about that rainbow and get lots of colors in with your salad good job guys we're actually making the um dressing to go on the salad by juicing a lemon and an orange that he's just gotten done and he has mixed together so I think what we're going to start doing including our recipe together um so we'll mix the the sturdy fruits first all right so I'm going to let you guys uh bring the pineapple we'll pass this fold down careful in there we're going to put the pineapple the mango the blueberries and strawberries in first you put the mango so we want to put these start of your fruits in at the bottom okay now we're going to pour just a little bit of the dressing in there a little bit of dressing okay now the next thing we're going to do is we're going to put um some of the other vegetable I'm scooping the other fruits in we're going to put some of the other fruits in so I'm going to get you okay and then we'll put the number on here so we're going to need to mix all these fruits together some really well get all the dressing mixed in with them and last play the um fruit that we have that we're going to put on top are the raspberries okay this will be all for the salad now we're going to let these students sing I hope everybody enjoyed um us watching us prepare this tasty recipe I hope you'll be able to try this at home and make it your own thank you
