McNairy County Schools is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Criminal Justice Instructor to prepare students for careers in law enforcement, public safety, corrections, and related criminal justice fields. The successful candidate will provide engaging classroom instruction, develop students' technical and employability skills, and create authentic learning experiences aligned with state Career and Technical Education standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
Option 1
- High School Diploma or equivalent and
- Three (3) years of relevant criminal justice-related work experience completed within the last five (5) years
Option 2
- High School Diploma or equivalent and
- Five (5) years of relevant criminal justice-related work experience completed within the last ten (10) years
Option 3
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field
Required Industry Credential
Applicants must possess at least one of the following:
- Passing score on the NOCTI Criminal Justice Assessment
- Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission certification
- Valid State Law Enforcement License
- Completion of an accredited Police Academy
- Completion of the FBI Academy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with secondary students
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Knowledge of current criminal justice practices, procedures, and technologies
- Experience in law enforcement, corrections, investigations, public safety, or related fields
- Ability to collaborate with local agencies and community partners
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality instruction aligned to Tennessee CTE Criminal Justice standards
- Develop and maintain lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials
- Provide hands-on learning experiences that simulate real-world criminal justice scenarios
- Promote professionalism, ethics, leadership, and workplace readiness skills
- Maintain a safe and productive classroom environment
- Participate in professional development and required state training
- Establish partnerships with local law enforcement and criminal justice agencies
- Support student participation in work-based learning opportunities, career exploration activities, and student organizations
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation as required by district and state policies
Salary and Benefits
Salary and benefits will be based on the McNairy County Board of Education salary schedule and applicable experience.

School Bus Drivers– applicant must be 25 years of age and obtain a B class Commercial Driver License with a passenger and school bus endorsement and pass a criminal background check and drug test.
