The social workers did a program for our second grade students. The program was a brief yet informative introduction to Understanding the brain through an interactive production with characters such as “Ms. Amygdala” the guard dog, “ “Ms. Elephante” the hippocampus and “Wise Owl” the cortex. Students learned about the brain’s fight, flight and freeze response as well as strategies to calm the nervous system to maximize learning potential.
